Best material to use is a thick canvas that has been double stitched with a strong thread. Draw some pictures on it and sew the whole thing together.

at age zero you can’t even hold scissors to cut the cloth.

Some fabric stores actually offer a a material that is already printed as “books” all you have to do is cut them out and follow the direction also printed on the fabric. Try going to Walmart or Hobby Lobby to look for them I’ve seen them in both places.

You can find preprinted fabric that alot of fabric stores carry.

They have directions printed on the fabric itself.

You can also probably find patterns for them in fabric stores. I attached a link to a fabric store that sells them.

They usually have more selection in store than online. Good luck.

If you want to design your own book, use strips of white, beige, or natural cotton cloth as your background. Cut the fabric into strips that are 6.5 inches by 12.5 inches.

You can then use a paintbrush and fabric paints, or acrylics to paint geometric designs on the background. Just make sure they aren’t too detailed, as babies can only see 6 inches in front of them for the first several months.

The best colors to use are black and primary colors. Babies cannot distinguish pastels from white until after the 6th month.

Once you’ve painted your designs, then use a lightweigh batting for the inside and use a 1/4 inch seam allowance to stitch (with right sides together). To assemble the pages to make the book, simple zigzag stitch down the center (makes the book easier to manipulate).

confirm the cloth is clean up and you sew it both securely plus use no glues.
